The cottage is well appointed and has all the amenities to make even long stays very comfortable. Good restaurants, tourist spots such as Sims park, Lambs rock, Dolphins nose, etc are within a 10-15 minute drive. Other places of interest like Ooty, Kotagiri, Catherine falls etc, are within a 45 minute drive.
Erin Villa is set on a quiet, private road, it is situated on 6 acres of land and is 2 kilometres away from Coonoor town. Staying here is like living in an everlasting bouquet. The crisp, clean mountain air is light, yet laden with fragrance and the senses seem suddenly sharpened. As the seasons change, so do our flowers and birds, each replacing the other, then bidding us a short farewell, so as none should feel lonely. Solitude without loneliness, be it summer, spring, winter or the monsoons, there is sure to be music. For life abounds, from the tiny to the tremendous. Our property is a patch of wilderness amongst the tea covered hills, for we love and encourage the wild souls who visit us. Be it the Malabar giant squirrels in their graceful rush, the dainty little sunbirds, shimmering within the soft hibiscus they're so partial to, or the happy whistling thrush. There are countless chirpy creatures that call these mountains home. Time stills as you watch the flowers bloom, observing the little lives they sustain, the beautiful and the slightly strange, yet all wondrous. If lucky, you may spot the humble mongoose in our garden, the hero of many a folk tale defending us, or hear the sudden sharp cry of the barking deer as it spots a threat with its keen eye. We have bison year round, who although very polite, prize their personal space above all else. Our nocturnal visitors are a little more shy, yet you may easily spot our chubby porcupine pal, thinking herself very stealthy, stealing our lily bulbs or even the elusive civet as it furtively forages, the wild hare as it hops along or even a burly bear in search of sweet honey or minty termites. We have our very own stream where the brilliant kingfisher feeds upon little freshwater crabs, and for the more adventurous, a spectacular waterfall that requires a small trek amidst rocks, moss and a few therapeutic leeches, for what's an adventure without a little challenge? The sunrises and sunsets are phenomenal, truly a photographers dream. We have a forest to one side and a brilliant view of the plains below on the other, that on a mistless night twinkles, as though mirroring the millions of sparkling stars above, a sanctum for stargazers indeed. Staying here will make you forget traffic, noise and pollution even exist!
